​Sophie Bernado has been a musician, composer, and vocalist for nearly thirty years. Her career, shaped as much by stage performance as by sonic research, has led her to develop a unique approach in which music becomes a tool for exploring consciousness and the living world. ​ A certified sophrologist, she links her artistic work to a genuine wellness practice centered on sound—a rare dual expertise that informs all her projects. As a polyglot who speaks five languages, she brings a decidedly international dimension to her practice. ​

 

On stage and in the studio, she has performed with various ensembles, including Bruno Lapin, L'Arbre Rouge, and the quartet Celestine in the Clouds (which she leads)—a pop-jazz-electronic improvisation group formed with vocalist Marie-Pascale Dubé, who explores *katajjaq* (Inuit throat singing).

 

Her career has also led to collaborations with artists such as Gavin Bryars, Eve Risser, and Dominique A, as well as the group Art Sonic alongside Sylvain Rifflet. Her compositional work also focuses on exploring endangered soundscapes; a notable example is *Oceans Infinis*, a collaboration with Céline Grangey—an electroacoustic composition built from hydrophone recordings of humpback whale songs.

 

She is currently developing *Sanctuarium*, a sound and visual installation conceived as a natural extension of the *Oceans Infinis* project. ​ Sophie also develops art-science collaborations—particularly regarding the effects of whale song on consciousness—in dialogue with neuroscience research teams.

 

Finally, she is spearheading *Wild & Sound*, a concept for immersive retreats combining nature, sound, and sophrology, which is currently in development. Based in the Occitanie region, Sophie Bernado pursues an artistic path where creativity, science, and well-being intersect, driven by a deep conviction: sound is a language of transformation.
